FAQs
What if my jewellery breaks?
If your jewellery breaks please send me a photograph and I will do my best to repair it.
International orders
International orders are now subject to VAT in the country of delivery. This is a very complex process so I have decided to process all orders from outside the UK through Etsy. Please contact me with a screen shot of the products you are interested in and I will set up a custom listing on Etsy. They will make sure that everything is done properly so that your parcel doesn't get stuck in customs and you don't get extra charges on delivery. Sorry!
What is Seascape Jewellery made from?
All the jewellery is made using glass and sterling silver. The layers of glass are fused in a kiln several times to create the shapes and each firing takes twenty four hours.
*I have recently sourced some hypoallergenic, stainless steel findings to use with my glass so I can offer earrings and rings to people who can't wear silver.
Will my Seascape Jewellery be Hallmarked?
It depends on how much the metal part of the jewellery weighs. I am registered with Birmingham Assay Office and any silver jewellery that weighs over 7.78g will be hallmarked in line with British law. Item that are lighter than 7.78g do not need to be hallmarked but they will be made from sterling silver.
How is Seascape Jewellery made?
I use sheets of handmade Bullseye glass, fusing them together in a kiln at temperatures of over 800°C; combining transparent and opal glass with dichroic and iridescent layers to create jewels that catch the light and shimmer with every movement ... perfect for jewellery.
How do I care for my Seascape Jewellery?
Glass is a very robust material and it can last for thousands of years without changing colour. If you get any lotions or creams on the glass just wipe them off with a soft cloth. Sterling silver can tarnish over time but please don’t use harsh chemicals on it. They can make it tarnish more quickly next time. I recommend using a soft, cotton silver cloth to polish your silver jewellery whenever it needs it. You should also wrap your jewellery up in a bag when it is not being worn.
What sort of glass is Seascape Jewellery made from?
First let me say, it's not seaglass.
I only use Bullseye Glass which is made by hand in Portland, Oregon, USA. This glass high quality is specifically made for fusing and is available in a range of jewel like colours as well as soft, pastel shades.
What is the difference between sterling silver and 925 silver?
Nothing apart from the name. Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. Sterling silver is the traditional name in the UK and 925 silver is used more widely in the USA.
How will my Seascape Jewellery be packaged?
Each item of jewellery that I send out is wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and placed in a branded box or cotton bag ready to be presented as a gift or unwrapped as a little treat for you.

I want you to be happy with your jewellery and I take every possible care to ensure that it arrives safely, but if there has been damage caused in transit please contact me within 14 days of receiving your order. If your jewellery is not what you expected then again please email me within 14 days to organise its return and a refund or replacement. Jewellery must be returned within 14 days of cancellation and refunds will be processed within 14 days of the return of the goods and payments made using the same method as you used to pay for your order. Return postage costs can only be refunded if the item was faulty or the incorrect item was sent. Please remember to get proof of posting and please note that jewellery is only insured in transit when posted using Royal Mail’s Special Delivery service. Any other method is at your own risk.
What sort of silver is Seascape Jewellery made from?
I use recycled sterling silver wire to make the hammered loops and source the chains, bails and other findings from UK companies to guarantee their quality.
What is a hallmark?
A Hallmark consists of three or four stamped marks and shows that the metal has been tested by one of the four national Assay Offices and is of the required purity. A 925 stamp is not a hallmark and is not a guarantee of sterling silver.
